Here we have Acoustic Effect TRY-01 Review. A brand so local but desiring to be known over the oceans. Lets see this hidden and discontinued (but available at local online stores) gems worthiness.

Box, Box Contents, Iem and the Cable

The review sample arrived in a makeshift packaging but the original box is an acrylic box with 4 screws inserted on each corner..A perfect way to instill the safe and sound image. Contents are plenty. Each of 4 items are in the photo. Iem is a lightweight bean shaped rectengule. Cable is a dark red, black and brown braided cable and shielded with a thin layer of silicone sheath.

Sound

The timbre is neutral both technically and regarding its sound color. So its frequency response is too. You hear the music as the artist intended you to hear. Texture is realistic. With good amount of details, you are not drown in microdetails as if this is a studio monitor. Engaging, balanced and musical is the best term to describe its sound. You can hear the records depth. Both the chorus at the 3rd line in the symphony or flute near and on your left, bass guitar starts at behind him slightly. Then the acoustic start on their opposite side of the recording room. At the same time crashes and drums are located at the back of them all. (Thanks to a. Hans Zimmer for Live in Prague b. Jethro Tull and their ~50 years of experience for producing this “attack record” Bouree) or at any suitable song you can observe guitarists or violins notes clearly. With that strong musical side, you hear no sibilance. No to sibilance and yes to imaging. Its one of the best I experienced for this price range. The other was another Japanese too. Final Audio e1000. Hearing the instruments as if they are solid is one thing, hearing the guitar players sneezes is so natural and life like is another. And especially male vocals double the fun at say Frank Zappa https://tidal.com/track/16605046 But with all these good sides, I must admit that mediocre records tend to ruin your experience by making trebles piercing.

Further

You hear the symphony at Zimmer’s Live in Prague as if you are listening it through an open back. I personally can’t believe the experience..make its soundfield a notch larger and you have a +100$ open back.

Battery hammers on you with pressure or electroguitar slashes you with its edgy style at 6 String Theory – Fives https://tidal.com/track/4135212 this reminded me of Grado and old school rock music. But you hear the woman called Eva Cassidy in Autumn Leaves https://tidal.com/track/2420801 with the trebles, piano and acoustic guitar playing behind her in a silent room. She is unhappy..her lyrics and singing conveys you the emotions from the very first seconds. Then the mood changes into a gospel and jazz blend in Ben Harper – Take My Hand https://tidal.com/track/154806

Bass, Mid and Treble

Bass is mid bass oriented. Good for nearly all the music on the planet. Not good on electronic music.

Mids are the core of this iem. Many can be said related to their mids and I had told much more above.

Treble are sufficent and well controlled. And good extensions of the cymbals or crashes. See the drum solo at https://tidal.com/track/81952769 after 08:30

Acoustic Effect TRY-1 Review Conclusion

Much I said on this sonic wonders. The brand AE did a splendid job with its entry line TRY-1. More is up to the reader and their different sources. But I can guarantee that this will be the most pleasing 14.000yen you’ll spend on an iem.
