FiiO, famous chinese cHi-Fi company updated BTR series with very accessible BTR5. Now We are reviewing FiiO BTR5. This FiiO BTR series have a tiny form factor just like Radsone ES and Shanling Up. It also comes with clip to attach into your shirt.

Pros

Powerful

3.5 and 2.5mm outputs

Sleek

Cheap

Dac and Amp

Cons

Price (for some)

Box, Unboxing, Build Quality

Box is simple plain black. There’s booklet and USB Type C cable in it. It would be pointless to expect something extraordinary. Build quality done well and weights 43 gram (1,5 oz for Imperial Fellas). It feels sturdy and comfortable in hand. FiiO BTR5 have 2,5mm Balanced Output, OLED Screen which displays the transmitted BT codec name and volume level. Between the volume and power buttons there’s a multifunctional button.

Sound

First of all i have to admit you get different results in different gain modes but with Qualcomm BT chipset and ES9218P DAC you will be satisfied with the sound.

With Low Gain Mode (L) -if your headphones excels with power- you get satiated and finely separated instruments which leads to emphatical and decent musical experience.

With High Gain Mode (H) Sound is not the only thing that ascends. Your headphone reaches its potential and sounds thrillingly on tip of your nose. (unless someone got your nose)
With V-Shaped / Harman Target Headphone, the pleasure you get not only results with smile on your face, it will take you away.

Fiio BTR5 – Conclusion

If you are always on the move and if your headphone needs more juice compared to your phone in a matchbox sized device you just discovered FiiO BTR5, you may now divorce with Radsone ES100. Also with LDAC support it’s few step closer to the Hi-Fi sound than stock aptX-HD. It’s not over yet! There’s FiiO Control mobile app (Android/iOS) to tune and configure your BTR5 also you can connect the BTR5 to your computer via usb as a Amp/DAC which is a huge plus.
