Erasmus by AKROS is what it needs to be called. Its a welcoming sight to see an iem from Europe..I had done the first impressions here previously and I had spoken about it with flying colors in my first impressions here.. Now it’s review time with more attention to its variety of possibilities.

Sound of Erasmus by AKROS

“This is one of the iems that the concept of neutralness found in this price tag. I am truly hopefully expecting eargasm after fiddling with variables I mentioned above.”

These were my last words here in its first impressions. Now let’s change one thing at a time to observe the differences to have a totalistic look. Its switches are set to 00 in OG and hence I wrote that lines.

Switch, Eartip and Amping Time

01 Effects: instruments gained some edges and bass lost the already low depth. Performers on the stage are nearer to each other, a loss for positioning. But 3d imaging climbed up.

11 Effects: Lost some brilliance in exchange for a bodied and dark timbre. Stage width at the stadium live record is wider. Almost enveloping. And the rock band normally placed near the right and slightly behind are almost in where they are. 3d imaging is surely suffering as well as the monitoring capacity.

10 Effects: Crispier! But not razor sharp. Back to the monitoring capacity and stage gained depth but width diminished a little. Rock band which started at 02:00 is near the centre of the stage but slightly not clamped together with the other guys. Extensions are not like 01.

Black bored eartips: First impressions were taken in 00 and light blue bored tips within its OG carrying case. Now let’s see those ordinary looking wide bored black eartips effect in Erasmus by AKROS.

Switches are returned back to 00

The result is very close with 11 results with light blue eartips. Stage is wide as it should be and basses show their heads. I mean they remained body. Splashes of the band are neither disturbing, nor quick roll offs of the Indian drum masters (Satnam Ramgota). They are all flowing like calm and clear river.

Dongle Time I used the Tempotec Sonata HD V with the same song, eartips and 00 condition switches. Now I am having a fun preferring tuning. Presentation is forward and instruments look like all clamped in and bass lost it’s presence where needed. The background resolution is almost non existent. Tonalities aren’t fully gone but it surely got a hit due to the HD V. Mids retreated and extensions lost their glamorous side even though the timbre isn’t that very unlike compared to the alterations above.

Dx300 Time Gain L and Volume 50/100 is high for my standards. 45 is safety (moderately high) Switch is 00. It became a thing worthy of praise. Stage is wide and deep, laid back and 3d imaging is high. The most vivid experience I got from it so far. That rock band is like what it was in 10. Instrument separation is high again. Mr. Ramgota’s cymbals are not razor sharp due to the laid back presentation but hearing a finger lacking the guitar string before playing is invaluable!

Dx300 + TK-2 Time I did the final test while bundling the dx300 as source and TRI TK-2 as amp. 00 is switch condition. Same track same tips and volume like 45/100. Here we go.

The track gained a brightening touch and the best separation I ever heard to far with everything in balance + width. Separation does mean layer separation here too. There are 3 layers of instruments in this live performance and I can hear all in their estimated positions. With the brightness touch, it gained smoothness and body at the same time. Mr Ramgota is rolling off plates more realistically now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

AKROS Erasmus is in its best Mobile Audiophile shape now. But you can’t get a snow white swan out a dull white swan in this price tag without a nowadays polished studio record as source. So you gotta embrace the natural analog beauty of it and consider yourself lucky even after hearing its OG form. Congratulations AKROS for your tuning.

Ps: it is reaching to a very good shape with a single LM4881 based portable amplifier. It added up a little more brightness and punch to the sound. However I am sure it certainly is at best with a stationary amp.

Pa2v2 and Erasmus

Ps2: My 2x Burson V5i opamped Dethonray ha-2 is away. I will run the final sweep with it + Xduoo Xd05 Basic while connecting both in LO conditions.
