Office desk, home rig, studio corner — if it lives on a desk and drives headphones seriously, it belongs here.

What We Talk About Here

This section covers:

• Desktop DACs and headphone amplifiers

• All-in-one DAC/amp units

• Balanced vs single-ended outputs

• Power delivery vs real control

• Pairing with high-impedance and planar headphones

• Gain structure and volume behavior

• Noise floor with sensitive headphones

• Heat, size, and long-term desk usability

Specs matter — but only when they translate to sound.

How We Evaluate Desktop Gear

Raw power is not the goal.

We focus on:

• Control and dynamics at normal volumes

• Timbre and tonal consistency

• Soundstage depth and image stability

• Micro-detail without sharpness

• Long-session listening comfort

If it sounds impressive for five minutes but tiring after an hour, that matters.

• Input used (USB, optical, coax)

• Output used (3.5mm / 4.4mm / XLR)

• Headphones or IEMs paired
