Now it’s time to review KBear KS2, one of the new-gen budget friendly headphones. It’s in Hybrid structure: 10mm Composite Diaphragm Dynamic Driver & Balanced Armature. Thanks to KBear for this review unit!

Box, Unboxing, Build, Cable

Box is ordinary KBear box; simple, small and sufficient but box contents aren’t rich. just like KZ. In the box, there’s earphones, cable and 3 sized silicone tips. Earphones are plain colored, Left and Right labeling is distinct and material is plastic. Comfortwise they are not itchy with above average isolation. Cable is 4 core 0.78mm plug braided cable, kinda thin and brown colored like KZ Cables. All parts on the cable is plastic as well.

  • Interface: 0.78mm Pin TFZ
  • Color: Green/Black
  • Whether with mic: Yes/no
  • Plug:3.5mm L curve gold plated connector
  • Drive Unit: Hybrid 10mm composite diaphragm Dynamic Driver +Balanced Armature
  • Frequency range: 20-20kHZ
  • Sensitivity: 106±3dB
  • Impedance: 16Ω

KBear KS2 – Sound

Lively sounding, bright but not extreme, sounds full. Stage isn’t much wide, stage depth is average. Not bad at instrument separation, really good at imaging considering its price. I would rate stage holographication 6/10. Decay is natural, it’s easy to spot on stadium recordings. Vocals doesn’t sound placed deep like V-shaped sound. Nice touchdown to KZ which i formally compare. For 20$ does not even sound digital, can be called as organic. In the other hand does not exaggerate warmth.

Bass, Mid, Treble

Bass sounds strong. Even at %70 volume bass sounds shaky. In metal genre you can almost feel the beats. Reference: Slipknot – Solway Firth. Not-so-soft fast and hard drum beats may be exhausting but energy is pleasurable.

And about mids, the first genre that comes to mind is Blues. And we used The Blues Brothers as a reference. Stage locating is okay and while viewers waiting in excitement, trumpet and bass guitar starts playing and drum rythms at the back. Bass guitar (Lower-Mid) does not sound hoarse as well as does not grinds. Vocals sounds subtle.

There’s a driver for treble and drum bells are tasty. Does not even disturb at symphonies — at least doesn’t give discomfort on treble increased masterings. You can feel the material of the blown instrument.

Kbear KS2 – Conclusion

KS2 is decent earphone for its price like it’s brother KB04 (Review Coming Soon). In the other hand KS2 sounds better than similar priced KZ’s, poor resolution and poor microdetails can be ignored as I think it’s ok for 20$ earphone.
