Tronsmart T8 Mini Review: Youthful and Flashy Speaker
Disclaimer:
Good morning, readers! Finally, a new portable speaker from Tronsmart!
This time, we have the brand new Tronsmart T8 Mini, a speaker with a more flashy look than usual. The old Tronsmart T7 Mini was much more bland.
The old model wasn’t the highest quality; it was a bit lightweight and just as bulky. I wasn’t thrilled with the old model; the sound wasn’t particularly rich and was rather lacking in detail. So I’m curious to try this much-improved version.

Design/Build Quality:
The Tronsmart T8 Mini is a small speaker, but not overly compact in shape. It looks more or less like a bloated older Echo Dot. I must admit, this one has a rather flashy look compared to its predecessor and other Tronsmart models.

Finally, on the top, we find some beautiful bright LEDs with a beautiful RGB effect and, most importantly, two passive radiators with a metal finish.
At the top of the portable speaker, we find the driver, which appears to have a metal grille (it could dent if accidentally dropped), while the rest of the speaker has no special details except the buttons on the back.

It’s very attractive and youthful, perhaps the most colorful model to date.
Built-in Technology:
There’s nothing particularly new about this model; it’s a very compact entry-level model that doesn’t contain many components. Unlike its predecessor, it features a single, larger driver paired with two passive drivers. Finally, even the smaller models can be controlled via an app, allowing you to adjust some audio settings.

Starting from the top, we find:
- On and off button
- Volume Up/ next track
- Play/pause
- Volume down/previous track
- BT for pairing or TWS
Equipment used for testing:
Device:
- Poco M4 Pro
- Hotwav Pad 8
Software:
- Amazon Music UHD
Sound impressions:
We’re still in the budget price range and in entry-level products, so in terms of sound quality, we won’t find the same quality as the Tronsmart T8 (for example). This is sort of a smaller sibling with a sound that attempts to be 360° but doesn’t envelop you like its bigger brother. It’s certainly a notable improvement over the T7 mini; the sound is more balanced, and the speaker can be controlled and customized via an app.

The Tronsmart T8 Mini is a beautiful speaker, but it’s quite bulky, even in a backpack. It’s more or less like three Echo Dots stacked on top of each other.
The sound from the top speaker is directed upward, easily dispersing in open spaces. Passive radiators, on the other hand, work very well in enclosed spaces. This is the type of speaker I see in gyms (the classic portable speaker the trainer carries).
The bass isn’t bad at all, and the passive radiators, along with the LEDs, are visually stunning.
Testing it, you notice the midrange tends not to be the real protagonist. From my point of view, it’s a V-shaped speaker; the sound tends to be warm by default, but the emphasized treble reaches a very bright level.
However, using equalization, you can slightly correct these aspects and make it more balanced.
Fast comparison:
vs Tronsmart T7 Mini:
The Tronsmart T7 Mini wasn’t particularly attractive or good-sounding. For some strange reason, the sound was lacking energy and rather flat and dull. It wasn’t bad, but given its size, it didn’t impress me that much. You can find the remaining differences on the official website.
vs Tronsmart T8:

Although the name might suggest a similar version, the Tronsmart T8 has a much more immersive, rich, and energetic sound. I also think the type of drivers and their arrangement are on a whole different level. They don’t have much in common, but in terms of size, this one is slimmer and longer (it resembles a metal water bottle), while the T8 Mini is shorter and more bulging.
Conclusion:

Depending on your expectations and needs, this could be the perfect portable speaker. I find it very youthful and good value for money. The app integration has become standard on every Tronsmart speaker. This feature allows for small adjustments to the equalizer based on your tastes.
The connection has always been stable, and the battery actually seems to last a long time; a lot depends on the average listening volume, but even at 100% the charge decreases quite slowly.
Overall, an excellent (but not overly so) portable speaker capable of easily filling a medium-sized room with good music.
Pros:
- Build quality and materials are great
- 16w, 1x Full range, 2 passive radiators
- 360° Sound
- Best LEDs so far
- Built-in DSP with SoundPulse
- Good power and extra clear sound for the format
- Great improvement from T7 Mini
- App Support
- TWS Pairing
Cons:
- Bass is limited due to the shape and thickness
- A little bit chunky
- It gives its best between 80/90% volume
