Introduction
Welcome everyone to my review. Don’t worry I will make this review fun to read. This will be my first time reviewing earbuds. . This will be a new style and I hope it will be fun for the readers. The earbuds I have is from venture electronics and its called VE MONK PLUS
Background about me and personal taste in music.
I am a student and currently a hobbyist in the world of audio. When it comes to my sound library. I am more in anime songs and jpop artists (but not all jpop artists). To all my fellow anime fans, even otaku or weeb expect me to put anime references in my reviews by using anime music.
Personal Sound Preference
mid-centric guy. or neutral balanced with an emphasis in the mids. The somewhat provides this aspect that I want but not all of it.
Disclaimers.
The VE MONK PlUS I have is all in stock condition, I didn’t mod it.
My sources are in a budget side so expect my review perspective more in a casual and budget target
I originally Won this in a raffle from the Venture Electronics Group
Reasons to buy these earbuds
- Midcentric earbuds
- Great build Quality
- has micro details
- great clarity in vocals
- great for old tracks and classical
- decent separation and layering
Reasons to avoid these earbuds
- Average soundstage
- Sub-bass has a weak presence
- The mid-bass performance lacks texture and body
- Bass is almost to none
- too safe sounding
- female vocals sound cold its like they have a sore throat
- treble needs more adjustment and refinement
- imaging not that great
- needs more power to be driven properly
Sound Signature
The earbuds have a mid-centric leaning to extended treble.
Low-End/Bass
The bass of these earbuds is not that great. It’s like there is no bass at all. I can say that this pair has weak bass and for bass heads this is not the option.
Midrange
The midrange is decent you can hear the vocals for both genders and instruments. even though it has decent midrange it still lacks texture and depth. The midrange I like is from the BQEYZ KC2. In general, the mids of these earbuds are pleasing for casual listeners.
High range
The great aspect of these earbuds it have that sparkle and air but even though it has those aspects they still lack details micro details are prominent but not that prominent in short decent detail retrieval
Technicalities
For me this pair has decent technical aspects, Soundstage is small for my liking and it feels cramped in a small room, Imaging is small for my liking you can still hear the instruments but not that clear. Separation is good for city pop kind of tracks but in modern kinds of tracks, it does not perform very well.
Closing
The VE Monk Plus is a great earbud for its price but this pair has a different kind of review. Since this pair is somewhat hard to drive and is source-dependent.
