Blon is Blon with every new release and welcome to Blon Bl-07 Review after reviewing many BLON’s in the past. This time not unordinary looking like Blon Mini,MAX or Prometheus I had reviewed before. You can check their reviews as well. Featured image is taken from Gatgets Explained.
The Blon Bl-07 has 2 venting holes and 1 dynamic driver and this is hope inspiring. The driver is completely in metal with dome-like shape which reminded me of old Vsonic gr06. Its apparent that two halves of the main driver unit are left distanced from each other on purpose.
The cable is silver plated and wrapped in plastic so durable. Cable joints are reinforced with thick stress reliefs. Plus the connector pins are well guarded as its female pins.
Frequency Range. 20-20KHz.
115db.
16Ω
Plug. 3.5mm Gold plated straight plug.
Pin. 0.78mm 2pin.
Cable Length. 1.2m.
Sound
Tonality is better than the crude looks remind. Resolution too. You have to consider it’s price and the brands house sound before you make your mind. Basses lack clarity. Soundstage is airy and wide (depth is only somewhat) but instruments aren’t sounding far from each other. And a slight (slight?) boost at low frequencies are easy to hear. I am hearing the finger hits of a guitarist off its action. It shouldn’t be heard like a drum kick. And they are actually thumpy and give a vibration even at live orchestral music of Hans Zimmer. Details are so so because of the mid bass bleed imo. Mids in general are a tad weak and lifeless. Tonality is sub par and typical-like recessed here. But the same doesn’t apply for well recorded / mastered tracks and their vocals (See Abbey Road recordings or Daft Punk – Random Access Memories). Typical V looking shaped frequency curve otherwise.
Treble is poor both in quantity and partly quality. Almost nothing to speak about them. Roll off is almost very fast. Speaking of treble, vocals can be piercing and sibilant. But quiet enough for bassy electronic genres or bands
..And my hunch proved correct. While listening to Daft Punk – Get Lucky, bass is enough to get in the electronic music vibe and I didn’t mind the loss of technicalities above. (What’s funny is this is me, who held technicalities above fun all the time.) And the attack & rise after 03:15 at Contact by Daft Punk made my face somewhat impressed although some mid dominance and brightness wouldn’t hurt.
Amping Blon Bl07
I used my usual mobile amp Qudelix q5k. And the fun began 🙂 Stage width expanded and instruments gave space between each other. The notal weight lessened. The vocal became obvious and the bass lost its savage dominance. Still a little bit harsh but acceptable in the end. But turned into an electronic music freak now 🙂 Rhymes and electronic effects are fast and ripping your (mine) ears when you raise the volume.
Cabling Blon Bl-07
And now Blon Bl-07 turned into a much more potent iem, something worth for audiophile ears. Even though it didn’t help the soundstage that much; bass gained quality, speed increased extensions shortened and sharpened. Mid gained life and stage is much nearer to me now but layering still didn’t improve. The treble became a little splashy and touching the border of sibilance.
Blon Bl-07 Review Conclusions
Here is another Blon. Strong and study looks. I think it’s still reaping the fame of good old Blon Bl-03… While its a V shaped iem, not sharp V shaped as it. This tuning, venting holes and the reaction to amping is making it an ideal budget iem or a good starter or simply a different taste. I wish they had produce it with a better cable..
