BQEYZ Summer Review

A pretty good iem unlike a temporary Summer love

Now BQEYZ Summer in the house. BQEYZ is another iem company from China. But we remember them with KC2 and Spring models that are reviewed before. Now the time of approaching summers iem. BQEYZ Summer 🙂

Box, Bqeyz Summer, Cable

Box is rectangule oriented somehow large box. In the box several tips and a sturdy carrying case. Drivers are buried within the box and the cable is awaiting like a sleeping silver snake.

Summer itself is dark but transparent at the surface. 2 pinned reverse qdc connctors here Size is downright large. Extended usage concha pain warning here!

Cable is a tightly braided silver plated copper cable with nice printed details on connectors.

Sound

Timbre is slighly warm and presentation is natural. Overally balanced sound signature with actual space between instruments. Speed is good and transparency is remarkable. Not cruelly like Etymotic here but insane at orhestral backing hiphop tracks like (Cooper touWe Gotta Rise of Hollywood Vampires. You can almost track each instrument at that tiny to mid sized orchestras. (Hans Zimmer is off unamped BQEYZ Summer limits as it requires grand abilities to cope with his heavensent orchestral tracks) Keeping seperation high even at tracks with high tempo (bpm). See Angel of Death by Slayer for the result. Two electroguitars dancing around each other and occassionally attacks of machine gun-like drum. Must be super exthausing for the players. (For critical listeners like me too)

Stage is wide (not ultra) and high but not deep as like the previous two. An amp might be the cure for this issue. [Edit from the next day: Amp tamed it down with carrying the monitor-like ability]

Tonality is rich. Listening classical / indie / vocal jazz /instrument heavy hiphop etc is pure joy even without an amp. Transitions are buttery and reminding me of masterwork DM8. Vocals show no hint of sibilance. And tonality/seperation/transitions at vocals are great with Summer. But even tough all the merits above, truly doesn’t need but appreciates an amp.

Gaming

Although not perfect, more than okay. Pinpointing at orchestral tracks work well at gaming. And its gentle bass too. Machine gun firings at distance give you pretty high details. Or the footsteps coming up-downstairs. You can slightly hear the material enemies are walking in.

Bass

The overall experience is balanced with +0.5 on bass. No apparent emphasis. Puncy basses are never boomy. Or bleeding into other frequencies.

Mid

The frequency range it excels at. I must thank its BA driver and partially 5 layers for all this performance. Silky transitions, excellent layering and other mid related technicalities all add to the result for this range.

Treble

Not an oversparky treble due to both its balanced smoothness and amp requirement. Treble intruments are playing like they should. Outside the requirement, extensions are realistic and well layered thanks to its technical expertise.  Or should I say thanks to 5 layers of piezoelectric units?

Amping

Qudelix 5k and 3.5mm cable is used at this section. Bass got stronger and vocals gained more layering as well as treble sparkyness increased. More obvious cymballs or bells accompany you. Now I can monitor vocals fading in and out. The largely used word IEM (In Ear Monitor) gained meaning when amped.

BQEYZ Summer Review Conclusions

After spending time with it, reminding me of already reviewed ~x3 priced DM8, I think BQEYZ did a splendid job here compared its ancestors. Worth every penny spent and price to performance factor is rising up even more with a mobile amp.

We must admit that its not at Blon 05s / Final Audio a4000 level of crispiness. Or not at any KZ bass quantity. Not great for country / old school rock / electronic or any genres that demands sharp edges. But one can not excel at everything at this price range
