LAFITEAR LM3 INTRODUCTION:
Lafitear, a new brand based in China has entered the ChiFi industry by making its first step into the budget arena. The brand has quite a number of products in their arsenal which are still hidden by the giant competitors. In my hand is the LAFITEAR LM3 priced around 10 USD for review and let’s dive in detail about the product.
LAFITEAR LM3 SPECIFICATIONS:
Driver: Single Dynamic Driver
Frequency Response: 20Hz – 20kHz
Impedance: 20 Ohms
Sensitivity: 115 dB
LAFITEAR LM3 OVERVIEW:
The LM3 adopts a single dynamic driver that comes with a replaceable QDC cable, a 3D custom designed resin shell delivers a V shaped signature. The LM3 is priced around 10 USD but the posh packaging of the LM3 made it act premium. The technicalities from the LM3 are mediocre with average detail retrieval and improper tonal aspect.
SOUND ANALYSIS:
BASS:
- The quantity of the low end feels rich with enough rumble in the sub bass region to satisfy a bass head.
- The quality feels average with its poor control and prolonged decay.
- The bigger quantity and the poor control made the bass appear loose, less separated and made them muddy in the busy tracks.
- There’s no clear distinction between the sub and mid bass profile making them feel congested.
MID RANGE:
- The mid section appears recessed in the LM3 making them sound distant with less stage presence.
- The lower mid section has adequate warmth but with its excessive mid bass it struggles in separation.
- The upper mid section has decent elevation giving adequate air and presence to the female vocals.
- Though the upper mid has an elevation and presence they appear tiny as a whole.
TREBLE:
- LM3 has a spike in the treble section that makes the sibilance come across the presentation.
- The cymbal crash and trumpets appear artificial due to its metallic timbre.
- The high hats have sharper notes making them uncomfortable to listen to especially in the busy tracks.
- LM3 possesses adequate brightness and airiness that gives enough presence to the treble.
TECHNICALITIES:
TONE AND TIMBRE: LM3 acquires a weird tone and timbre for a single dynamic driver. It leans towards a warm metallic nature which is not the most pleasing one.
STAGING, IMAGING AND LAYERING: LM3 has a stage with decent width and height leading to an intimate staging. Due to its bigger low end presence it shows a proper depth sensation. Placement of the notes with different weights are layered out well but struggles when the busy tracks come to play.
DETAIL RETRIEVAL: They feel mediocre in the LM3 while extracting essential nuances without any issues and even it struggles in the complex tracks.
LAFITEAR LM3 VERDICT:
LM3, the latest budget offering from the house of LaFitEar packs a way above premium design for the price with a consumer friendly V shaped profile. The LM3 adopts a single 10mm Dynamic Driver with a QDC connector terminated in 3.5mm. The product is priced around 10 USD and it adopts a custom 3D plated faceplate in a resin body shell giving an extra touch of premium factor to the product.
The sound delivered by the LM3 is a deep V shaped profile with a weird metallic tone and timbre which affects the overall presentation. Technical aspects are on par for the price yet it’s nothing outstanding. The bass has a richer quantity while the quality remains average with poor control and speed. The mid section has lush male vocals with sharper female vocals. The instruments are pushed backwards making them appear distant and less stage presence. The treble section has a decent elevation while bringing out the essential nuances yet the detail retrieval and the separation struggles.
The LM3 suits the consumers who adore the deep V shaped profile with a deep rumbling bass but for purists who adores the technicalities then LM3 is a NOT MUCH COP!
POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES:
Pros:
- Well executed V signature
- Deep Bass Profile
- Forward Vocal Placement
- 3D Custom Faceplate
Cons:
- Metallic Tone & Timbre
- Average Technicalities
