In this review we got BGVP DMS. BGVP is a upper segment brand compared to other Chi-Fi brands like KZ, CCA, TRN etc… BGVP founded in 2015 and its name stands for “Budget Gears for Various Personalities”. They manufacture headphones from $40 to $1200 tuned in V to neutral. BGVP DMS is Mid-Fi IEM considering it’s design, tonality and presentation.

Unboxing, Build Quality and General Impressions

DMS is a hybrid IEM. It have open back 10mm dynamic drivers and 3 twins of BA. 2 of the Armatures are BGVP-Made and tweeter unit is Knowles Made. Suprisingly Dynamic Driver isn’t just a woofer, it’s also a full range unit. In the end there are 7 drivers for each channel and these are connected with 4 way crossover.
Casing is aluminum, if you look closer you can see brushed-like CNC engravings. DMS comes with black, cobalt blue and silver, i have the blue one. DMS fits good to the ear and with the right eartip choice you won’t have problems with fit. Even the DMS is made from solid aluminum, however it’s not that hefty. The only downside is that the housing may discomforts in cold weather. Cable connectors are fairly tight.

We mentioned that the dynamic driver is open back which results with wider, natural and holographic stage while compromises some isolation. Acttually passive isolation isn’t that bad.

In the box: 2 pairs of tuning filters, cable, clip, 3 sets of silicone tips and also pair of foam tips. In 3 set  of the silicone tips there are short wide bore, blue colored-spinfit shaped and classic silicone tips available. There are no carrying case in the box but there is a deal available on AliExpress which gifts you the nice case with purchase of BGVP DMS.

Driver unit (per ear): 6 BA + 1 dynamic

Sound

DMS sounds really energetic, while keeps its tuning smooth. You can listen through DMS without any exhaustion neither in lower nor higher frequencies. Tonality is mild W-Shaped.

Bass, Mid, Treble

Emphasised Bass and Treble, relatively recessive mids. There are ni kiss un details, it’s just quantity-wise. Female vocals are more dominant than male vocals. Bass is fairly soft but it does have speed. Thanks to open back DD design instruments sounds holographic with really neat staging. Treble is also emphasised. Actually there are no issues like sibilance. While DMS sounds fun with great energy and doesn’t sound exhausting. However in high volumes female vocals and fiddles may sound screechy. Smooth but airy vocals, bodied strings, punchy bass, smooth drum bells, over average stage width… More detailed bass and airier treble would be really nice. However this may resulted with exhausting. Also the cheapiness of the cable is may be a problem to users that prefers more premium cables. They could’ve just put the BGVP DMG’s Cable into this box.

BGVP DMS – Conclusion

BGVP DMS is a neat pick for the $160. But if you are looking for another recommendation go check out BQEYZ Spring 1.
