Sound
Man, this thing with this price didn’t have to be this damn good at electronics! I started my first track again to find a fault. But I dunno, maybe because of the darn (joking) LCP diagram. And the disturbing effect of the bass at this acoustic performance almost reduced to none. Plus now I can hear the entire stage squeezed in the tiny drivers. And it’s not virtual like the uber high stage of Monk (I didn’t recall the model number but I was feeling like two speakers with huge drivers were tied in to my ears) But everything has some downsides. Such as the lack of earhooks on its stock cable and soft and thumpy bass. And speaking of tonality I’d like to hear a particular instrument just as If I am hearing it in real life. But IMO this Lea is trying to be the nice new guy and adding slightly smoothness to the instruments. This addition habit isn’t preventing you from estimating the nature of the instrument you focus on. Such as trumpets are metallic blowns at Joe Cocker live.
In the old times, budget meant rubbish but I think the LCP diagram such as Astrotec Vesna’s, and Tin Hifi t3plus and Lea’s did some good job to the budget range iems where they shouldn’t be musically that good. (stubborn and annoyed brat mode on:) But not enough good to approach the level of HM.
Recabled Tripowin Lea
Clearer and punchy. Transparency is improved by a notch. This helped layering to get better. Smoothness and bass strength is slightly reduced at jazz. Jazz at the Pawnshop is more delightful now.
Amped Tripowin Lea
Much better than the recabled status. Jazz is almost complete now. The compression in extensions continue. Its a matter of burning in probably.
Tripowin Lea Review Conclusions
Even tough the design is not new, this sound characteristics in a budget body and price is completely new thanks to it’s LCP diagram. And as usual amping & recabling carried it higher than $25 but I have to admit that neither of those made it’s night a day. And this is awesome for budget segment.
