Review: Hidizs MS3 – Balanced Energetic Brother

Thanks to Hidizs for the sample of the Hidizs MS3 review. The absolute necessity, that would fill the gap under MS5.

Now the brother of the previous brute MS5, MS3. Equally enjoyable for me, but MS3 has certain surprises hidden under its sleeve. Let’s find those.

Company Overview

Hidizs is an esteemed company that has been in the business of producing dac/amps, daps, iems, and various other types of audio equipment for some time now. Regardless of whether they are producing low-cost toys or high-end gadgets, the company always seems to prioritize quality, and the finished items both have an expensive feel and look. The Hidizs AP80 Pro is a high-resolution music player that is one of their most popular products. It has an excellent sound quality and a sleek design, which contribute to its popularity. It is ideal for audiophiles who are constantly on the move due to its portable size and intuitive user interface. And MS3 this time.

TL:DR___

PROS_

Strong bodies, punchy and energetic sound

Nice clarity

All the technicalities deserve a silver or gold medal

Managing the soundstage wide, despite its poor venting

Power requirement is low

Price is modest if you consider around 150 so.

CONS_

Lack of multiple venting holes, that limits the soundstage

Sticking to a single OG cable. Its cable isn’t modular

Not suitable for smooth jazz or minimalistic genres

Technical Specifications

Packaging

Hidizs company has developed an intelligent method of separating 3 separate boxes. Fairly standard, besides it.

In the box

Cable

It looks dark brown, but unlike KZs with dark brown cables, it has multiple braids with over hundred cores and soft silicone sheath on the metallic main structure. This is very assuring of its cable build quality. As far as I remember, TRI iOne had a great cable too, but it was quite bulky and functionality severing.

Design

CNC cast out of light metal, same with MS5, but contrary to it, it has only 1 ear venting hole. However, fairly standard. More or less like the MS5.

Comfort

All built with CNC cut aluminum. The comfort of Hidizs MS3 is obviously higher than MS5, but the less yet same bulky cable is here..

Internals

1 DD + 2 BA and others in the bulleted list below:

1. Dual magnetic circuit dual cavity dynamic driver 2. CNC sculpting for a distinctive artistic effect (high recognition value) 3. HIDIZS pneumatic sound filter – 3 tuning filters to meet different preferences.

Hidizs MS3 Sound

The tone ranges from neutral to slightly dark in quality. The soundstage is completely enveloping my entire hearing field, but it does not intrude in any way, despite the fact that there is just a little venting point. Chimes can come from either the far left or right of a string instrument group. In spite of the fact that I am conducting this review using the Fiio KA3 and V30, my presence on the scene is not bothersome in the slightest. When considering the cost, the vocal articulation, texture, and timings are all of the highest possible quality. The detail projection is amazing, not to mention the layers of it all.

Bass

Almost no extra fat or cuts were made to its body, from what I can see. The slightly plump rhymes beneath the main line could be the result of a poor choice of sources or be all that it is capable of producing. But, oddly, I found the bass projection to be more satisfying than that of the MS5. The sub bass frequencies of the music are easily accessible. This makes it more affordable – earpleaser choice than MS5, making it a great electronic music companion.

Midrange

To put it accurately, it is flawless for the cost. The vocals and instruments are both audible and not overpowered by the others. The distinct tones of the guitar riff beneath the first line are aural bliss in metal. The Eagles’ lead male vocal, however, isn’t quite as spot-on as his original recording. Overall, the sound quality is impressive and well-balanced. The only minor flaw is the slight deviation in the male vocal, but it does not detract from the overall listening experience.

Treble

The twin Knowles BA based tuning makes this harman tune clearly superior to many others. MS3 has a clear and detailed treble range. Additionally, the BA drivers provide a well-balanced and accurate sound across all frequencies. The MS3’s ergonomic design also ensures a comfortable and secure fit for extended listening sessions.

Comparisons

The comparison will be mainly with Hidizs MS5 and some others between $150 – $300.

vs MS5: iFi GO bar was in the amplifier in this comparison. With the GO bars power, the low end got elevated, so take this into account. But I am having boomy basses with that dongle, so I switched to my good old faithful Shio. Basses didn’t block the other instruments frequencies at MS3, they only boosted the punch of bass at electronics and separated the rhythm / instrument line more. This resulted with clearly separated lines of those when critical listened. MS5 openly exhibits technical superiority. But leaving the upper frequency supremacy over MS3 aside, the difference isn’t like x3. However, the champ is still MS5 with particularity, separation, dynamic range etc. The presentation is the same. But the soundstage helps it great with large venue recordings, thanks to it partially open backed design. A mere AB practice while playing Live in Prague of Hans Zimmer helps me reach this regard.

vs Simgot EN1000 King Wonder: Looks are like the mirror opposite. MS3 can transmit the enthusiasm of blues rock with all the elements, without losing my spot as the listener. Post rock of Enter Shikari is full of details. And the bass stepped down the colossal levels, after replacing the OG 4.4 with his brothers 3.5. Finally, The Jim Hall Trio is comfortable with it. The genes play a role on the sound characteristics. EN1000 is the one with less energy and punch. The live blues rock is different than MS3. Soundstage wise MS3 is one notch better than EN1000.Everything looks closer with it, don’t forget the bass punch. MS3 has an enjoyable punch for me. And last, The Jim Hall Trio is debatedly more delıcate with EN. The soundscape is less organic with it. This is the point of debate.

vs Aune Jasper: Now we have a serious rival, with $300 cost. The enthusiasm is less than MS3 at blues rock, and it positions me further away from the stage. But the basses are near to MS3 level of punchy, with all the more delicate technicalities. However, losing the distortion of the guitars are your trade off. BUT, this Jasper must be crafted for the Jim Hall Trio. MS3 stays amateurish here, compared.

Where to Buy

Hidizs MS3 review Conclusion

A well-balanced small angel that transforms into a massive and dark creature when used with 4.4mm cable. But the constant injection of new technology helps it keeping the control. You want pop inspired smooth jazz? Launch Fourplay, and take some time to appreciate how well the music matches the tune. Or listen to MCR and melt into Queen inspired songs with its punch and notal balance. No matter what, Hidizs MS3 review was so fun.
