TKZK Ouranos is the guest of today, waiting to give its first impressions. However, as Cronos’ father and uncle, I’m sure he had plenty of time to wait for his discovery after Cthulhu. Being one of the first gods have some downsides.. The TKZK brand having released Wave before, was pretty silent. And Ouranos’ time began, and TKZK’s sea-based legacy continued.
We have a plain white box with very little text on it. Box contents are minimal, too, save a light blue / greenish carrying pouch and many ear tips. The most fancy thing is gold flakes / molten earth containing backplate. The shell is 3D printed.
Let’s start with some first impressions:
A laid back presentation with hasty tempo. Mid is somehow recessed and tiny details are far behind than they should be. Earclaps are weak but not lifeless. Live transparency is low. But thanks to its fast extensions, its scoring some points.
Second leg of our first impression calls for dubstep – Internet Fiends. Impressive liquid performance here with a larger soundscene. And is able to portray the shattering glass to an extent. However, the bass line continues to hit without overpowering the other effects.
Third is Propane Nighmares. Layering ranges from mediocre to subtle. I’m not experiencing the WOW that I did with QKZxHBB Khan here. Bass has no problems. Thumpy all the way without causing significant ear pressure.
Fourth and last is Rattle That Lock. The tempo is ÂĽ times faster than it was. Texturing cannot accurately represent Gilmour’s worn vocals. But other major elements are here and there, with a wide soundscape and backvocals + old-fashioned rock tuned battery and a lackluster guitar solo.
Conclusions of The First Impressions
I have mixed feelings about TKZK Ouranos despite the lore value of its name. Mythology isn’t something I am interested in right now. It’s debatable whether playing so nice, crisp, and separated at The Hobbit of the Blind Guardian is a plus. But being a sub brand of Tin Hifi is of great help. Thanks to Hifigo. See you in its review.
