Hello everyone. Some of you are clueless about the term EQ or Equalizer. I know it’s very confusing but don’t worry I will explain it based on my own understanding and experience. Sound
Types of setup
The most common one is the Graphic. has a range of 6-21 setup or depends but the most common is 6-10. I will use my Laptop’s Default Sound software which RealTek Audio Console for my example and it’s a 10-band setup.
Graphic Equalizer
It’s usually the easiest to understand. In the name itself Graphic, We can see the frequency already given. The example picture, I showed is a 10-band setup. If you know the meaning of each frequency you can change it according to your desired sound. This Kind of setup is usually seen in smartphones and in some streaming services.
Advantages of Using this kind of setup
- Easy to use and user friendly
- all frequencies are already prepared
- Easy to modify the sound in each frequency
Disadvantages of using this kind of setup
- compressed frequencies
- not that detailed modifications
Parametric Equalizer
The parametric Equalizer is usually the more complex and advanced kind os setup. Usually, you can see this in recording studios and sound engineers usually use this setup. I have a little bit of experience using this and it’s through software called Poweramp.
Advantages of Using this kind of setup
- More detailed modifications
- customizable frequencies
- has more control over the frequencies
Disadvantages of using this kind of setup
- more complex
- the frequencies need to add manually
- the frequency meaning is not the same as with the graphic equalizer
Personal Opinion with the two
In terms of complexity and details, I will use Parametric for a more user-friendly Graphic is your option
Frequency in sound
in sound, there is a Frequency composed of the following
- Bass/lows
- Midrange
- High range/Treble
