Thanks to Tanchjim for providing the Tanchjim Space Lite usb c dongle, lighter and less powerful version of Space we haven’t reviewed yet, for review purposes.
Tanchjim, a relatively new but reputable company, has just released the OG Space Dongle Lite, a budget dongle that also comes with a connected cable. Those who are looking for a solution that won’t break the bank but will nonetheless receive high-quality sound will benefit greatly from purchasing a budget dongle. In addition, audiophiles who are prepared to spend a little more money on a premium product can take advantage of the OG Space Lite Dongle’s superior sound quality by purchasing it.
Company Overview
Tanchjim was established in 2015 by Yuan Yao, who places a premium on both innovation and design. It is also unusual amongst brands in that it has its own R&D department. The company’s best-known items include Zero, Ola, Tanya, and Space, to name a few.

Design
Pretty straightforward 🙂 The data and power cables are separated and the cable is built in the other end of the body and a 3.5mm out on the other side.
Internals
The CS43131 dac chip is the heart of its board. And background noise is 1uV
Dynamic-Range is 126dB. Pretty strong considering its size.
Tanchjim Space Lite Sound
The midrange is very clean, precise, and accurate. It has just the proper amount of air, which is further highlighted by the fact that there is almost no distortion and an even-toned signature. Even though the higher frequencies might have a little more presence, the audio quality of the Space Lite is still really impressive.
As the name implies, it is dark with a natural tint. When the volume is turned up, you can hear Ian’s playing tempo and natural nuances. Yet, the bass guitar and other aspects are unresolved. The Blues Brothers’ enjoyment of blues rock, on the other hand, is rather monotonous.
The performance is brighter than ever, but the treble appears thinner. If I were to count joy, it would have gotten a boost from Blues Brothers’ live Blues Rock. The forwarder yet unobtrusive soundstage promotes everything in terms of fun factor. However, realism must also be considered. Ian’s fast-paced flute playing and breath intakes are clearly audible. The bass guitar and cymbals are also present.
After Space Lite
The stereo field is sized appropriately. The body is only neutral to the record; it is not taking up all of your hearing space. In all, layering makes up about 60% of the total. Casual hearing did not reveal these, but critical listening is the key. Its objectivity makes it delightful. In that price range, it’s unusual to hear limited bass. It doesn’t try to force itself forward or act otherwise. And it appears that dynamism is the key ingredient in its formula that is most often ignored.
The soundstage is true to the live recording, and the immersion is greater. also trumpets. With good vocal texturing, the music is now filling your entire hearing range. You continue to receive no extraneous frequencies. But it’s simple to see that there has been a significant increase in volume and stage placement. Without Space Lite, the same track performs completely dull and in black and white.
After Space Lite
It has a musical and precise touch thanks to V30. And for cohesion, everything has been slightly blended. Its worth will depend on what genres you listen to. The bass guitar is fairly rounded, and the bass is substantial. In any case, it might just be a tone. Everything is being spread apart on the large soundstage, which is giving you fresh air. However, just the bass isn’t done that well.
Each nuance moved closer to you without sacrificing the amazing technical power of S12. Fewer of the distinctive bodies of the instruments are given up for cohesion. However, I must admit that, unlike many other DDs priced below $100, as I stated in its first sound impressions post, the S12’s planar driver was unaffected by the boost effect.
After Space Lite
Simgot EW100P
This budget player has a mix of technicalities and fun, with a black background and partially okay 3D imaging. The stock tips offer pretty good separation of instruments, although the sound extensions can make it even better. The wide soundstage is impressive, but not all records are able to achieve this. However, the 3D-printed shell only has one venting hole, which leads to a lack of layering, making it difficult to hear multiple descending keyboard presses.
The result is a tighter and more organic sound AND immersive soundstage. This is helping with its layering and the details of the maximum level its configuration allows. Instruments have stronger 3D imaging, extensions have gained more finesse , and the crowd is slightly alive in live tracks. And don’t forget the balancing effect on EW’s sound. It’s originally rather dark timbre is now actually neutral.
After Space Lite
vs VE Avani
VE Avani is less musical and a little more edgy. Also, the feeling that track portrays is less apparent going forward. Poor instrumentation is used between separation and tonality. Natural percussion no longer have that smoothness, and vocals are more harsh.
