First Sound Impressions: Tanchjim Space Lite

Tanchjim Space Lite is provided by Tanchjim. Space dongle will land in a week.

The small but professional brand Tanchjim is up with a budget dongle and attached cable with the OG Space Dongle. The budget dongle is a great option for those who want to experience high-quality sound without breaking the bank. Additionally, the OG Space Dongle provides an even better audio experience for audiophiles who are willing to invest in a premium product.

Company Overview

Tanchjim was established in 2015 by Yuan Yao, and the company places a significant emphasis on both innovation and design. Also, it is one of the few brands that has its own research and development department. Their most well-known items include Zero, Ola, Tanya, and Space, to name just a few.

Let’s look at the first sound impressions of the single CS43131 (?) using Tanchjim Space Lite and its comparison with VE Avani, which Andy EF introduced us to:

Salnotes Zero

Dark, as the name suggests, with a natural tint. If you turn the volume up, you can hear Ian’s playing tempo and natural nuances. Yet, the bass guitar and other aspects are unresolved. And the Blues Brothers’ enjoyment of blues rock is quite monotonous.

After Space Lite:

The performance is brighter than ever, and the treble looks thinned down. If I am to count  joy, it would have gained a boost in live Blues Rock of Blues Brothers. The forwarder yet not disturbing soundstage is giving everything a promotion regarding the fun factor. However, adding up realism too. Ian’s fast paced flute and his breath intakes are easy to hear. The bass guitar and the cymbals too.

Truthear Zero

Strong basses and run of the mill technical abilities. Soundstage is so immersive in live recordings and deep to an extent. The bass is agile and worthy of Kraftwerk. Mid segment is doing the best it can in this dual DD config. Hiphop with many natural instruments is a joy to listen and easy to track.

After Space Lite

It lost the fancy after setting the dongle up as it’s the hardest dynamic iem in this first sound impressions post. I switched to MBA2022 and saw the speed, clarity, details and layering rose up. However, trebles (upper treble especially) became a thing to tire me.

Tin Hifi C2

The stereo field is relatively large. The body is not filling your hearing space; it is only neutral to the record. Layering accounts for roughly 60% of the total. These were not obvious during casual hearing, but critical listening is the key word. It’s charming in its neutrality. It’s unusual to not hear unnecessary bass in that pricing range. It isn’t pushing forward and pretending to be something it isn’t. And it appears that the major factor that is overlooked in its formula is dynamism.

After Space Lite:

The immersion is higher and the soundstage is faithful to the live recording. Trumpets too. Now the music is filling your entire hearing range with a good texturing on the vocal. You still don’t get unnecessary frequencies. But a huge boost on the volume and positioning of the stage is easy to observe. AB’in the same track without Space Lite results in a completely dull and black-and-white performance.

Letshuoer S12

V30 is giving it a musical and precise touch. And everything is slightly blended for cohesion. The genres you listen to will determine its value. The bass is weighty, and the bass guitar is pretty round. It might be just a tone anyway. The wide soundstage is spreading everything apart, giving you fresh air. But the bass alone is not so well done.

After Space Lite:

Every nuance took a step towards you without losing the incredible technical power of S12. Instruments’ distinct bodies are sacrificed less for cohesion. But I have to admit that the boost effect didn’t affect the planar driver of the S12, like it did the DDs in this first sound impressions post.

vs VE Avani

Everything is slightly edgy and less musical. And forward with less sense of the emotion that track conveys. The instrumentation in between tonality and separation is poor. Vocals are harsher, and natural drums have lost that smoothness.

Tanchjim Space Lite First Sound Impressions Conclusions

If you like Tanchjim in house tuning, and low on budget, Space Lite is the place to go. If you want to enjoy your dynamic driver iem twice as much while accepting some sound thinning, Space Lite is the best option for you. The Space Lite dongle is tuned in-house by Tanchjim to give listeners an immersive experience. Although some users might notice a slight loss of density, the improved sound quality makes up for it. I’ll take a closer look at it in my review. Thanks to Tanchjim and Linsoul. IF you want to buy
