Thhifi Character (Chris Loves Impressions)

THHIFI Character

Sound Impressions

The Character has a lighter V-shape to Harman tuning. I hear slight variations of each. The Character has a warm of neutral tonality. A very smooth sound with good note weight in all areas. I hear a very non-fatiguing and refined sound which shows off what this hybrid driver is capable of. Thanks to Pickupaudio for this opprtunity.

Bass

The bass region has a bit more presence in the mid-bass but not by much. I hear good haptic energy and deep buzz in the sub-bass area. I do not hear any crazy roll-off, but Instead I hear a somewhat deep and sonorous sub-bass. The Mid-bass has a good punch as well. There is texture which defines the bass as a whole. I don’t hear anything obtrusive or any bloat at all. This bass is tuned very well. This is not the quickest bass, but it is appropriate to the overall tonal character of the… Character. I do hear good physicality in the low end, albeit not bass-head. Overall, the low end sounds very nice for the price.

Midrange

The Character’s midrange is very smooth and melodic and isn’t recessed too badly. In fact, the midrange fits nicely the overall sound. I hear a solid warmth to my music. The sound is not veiled at all, but a refined warmth.

The midrange presents male vocals with good note weight which has a certain amount of warmth to it. Notes are well defined with some definite heft added from the low end spilling over. However, males sound very good. Moving up to females, they have a bit more energy to them. I wouldn’t say they have any shimmer to them, but they sound energetic enough and well defined. There isn’t a chance for glare or shout from what I’ve heard thus far. Just a warm and textured and even detailed midrange as a whole which comes across with good charisma and poise.

Treble

The treble does have air, but I do hear a quicker roll-off up top. Not the most extended. Yet, the treble does have nice levity to it. I don’t hear any sheen and nothing too bright. The BA driver handles the treble well with nice definition. The treble is smooth enough and blends well with the warmer lower areas. The treble is slightly cooler than the bottom half, but it maintains good note weight and definition. Still, I hear good energy even without the extension up top. Everything just fits and nothing is exaggerated with this tuning. Nothing is grating or harsh at all. No sibilance either. The treble characterizes this perfectly. This is an iem that, like many of Dunu’s, I could listen to for a long time.

Staging/Imaging/Details

The stage is above average in width, above average in height and has good depth. Overall, it sits above average to me as a whole. A very nice stage size. Imaging is very good here as instruments and voices are all separated very well and placed nicely in the imaginary stage. Depth helps with the layering which is also apparent. Details come through very nice as well as this is a composed replay. You can hear the quality of the materials used with the Character.
