Now the second part of the mini review line from Hi Fri Hi Fri 122est v2. First was 1+3 here. Comparisons and through reviews will follow in a week or so. 122est v2 is DD, 2BA, 2EST. BA/EST are all Sonion which is great since we are used to seeing these brand of drivers in +$200 iems.
The iem arrived as a duo of L and R units. The rest was up to me, so I had decided to use a standart wide bored eartip and average silver plated 4N copper cable. Usage of a better cable and or eartips are reserved for its actual review 😉
Looks are fantastic as well as the bulky load under its hood is visible and giving me a sense of satisfaction. Cable entry is 2 pinned female. My source is dx300 L gain, Neutron and only two songs. I guess its enough for a brief review. Normal reviews will be covering up more at 1+3 and this 122est v2 as well as comparisons for 1+3 with other homemade iems like Zerest and Kotori Dauntless that were already reviewed here or in facebook group.
First track of the comparison is Limehouse Blues of Jazz at the Pawnhouse. On stage live transparency is quite high as well as its controlled basses are. Soundstage is not uber wide. Better control and realism at these parameters was at Shuoer s12 – which is a professional product compared to a single man’s efforts. Tonality is vivid, especially the energetic clarinet. It is so lovely.. Roll offs are kinda fast. 3d imaging is pretty good. There are 3d in the applause. Drum’s cymbals are naive. However the bass guitar is prone to be bloated at times. And the soundstage is not reaching the far end of the club. These points must be improved to worth more than $250
Second track is Bonfire of Knife Party. Crispy treble and basses with slight tactile feedback or simply vibration at the ear and at the tummy…I wouldn’t expect these from a setup full with dual BA and EST. Looks like the choice of DD is clever. I guess they would be further vibrating your ear after EQ
Hi Fri 122est v2 Mini Review Conclusions
My mini review about Hi Fri 122est v2 is giving this high grade. If I was a daily iem listener and not a reviewer I could have bought this even in this condition. Funk off inability to reach the far end of the pub or slight bloating at smooth jazz. Perfect for dubstep and very good at smooth jazz performed live in a tiny rectangle. Mahir out and thanks for the trust in my fairness.
