BGVP DH5 Review

Bgvp DH5 review here. Beggining of DH5 tour at my country. Dh5 is 4 BA + 1DD of Beryllium plating. My first impressions off a LG V30+ are positive when considering it’s intention. Complete review + cable and amp effect evaluation will be at the end.

The BGVP brand had wanted to create an easy driven multiple drivered general contender which would please the desire of general population and (partially) tech junkies who are keeping their amps in their pockets…

Box, Box Contents, Specs, BGVP DH5 And Cable

Box is an absolutely fancy looking and textured cardboard box. Contents are plenty as BGVP tradition. Tips for different purposes and sizes + carrying case + cable + various documentation and a tiny tool for sound filter cleaning if needed.

BGVP DH5 is a small and air grilled and custom made backplate iem with ergonomy extention. Nozzle is short and wide. Venting hole is huge. 2 Pin female sockets are on the top.

Cable is retractable and a nice combination of light browny + silver. Braided with clever thinking. All connectors are in metal. And nothing is missing on the cable.

>Impedance: 19 ohm.

>Sensitivity: 119dB/mW.

>Standard 2-pin 0.78mm connectors.

>Frequency response range: 10Hz-40kHz.

>THD+N: ≤0.5%.

>Rated power: 8mW.

Sound

Timbre is bright to neutral IMO only with a hint of V. Background is dark (very dark when amped) Neutral bass with sufficient body. Somewhat forward presentation. Efficency is high. Attack is shy, not descending down and slapping in the face when rising up. 60/100 resolution and 55/100 layering. But microdetails and 3d imaging are missing when unamped. Clear and forward vocals with high texture. No sibilance. With amping and / or cable rolling the results should be altered.

Bass is clean BA bass with high speed, no muddyness when bass guitar began or drum double kick begin. Not bleeding into other frequencies too.

Mid is showing it’s actual face when powered up. Seriosly muffled originally. So details are partially damaged and microdetails are unheard when unamped. But transistions are pretty good and melding into each other.

Treble is decent for its price  Very nice high resolutioned treble extensions. Smooth transistions of high frequency intruments.

Amping BGVP DH5

I can clearly see (I had suspected before) that it became a sharper sounding iem. Texturing, extensions, vocal presentation and 3d imaging got much better than it was. It’s shyness in attacks are nearly gone due to the overally muffled experience’s disappear.

Cabling BGVP DH5

After the 6N Pure Copper cable, it hadn’t benefited like the amping. The only difference I recorded so far is the darker timbre and somewhat compressed experience. Thus I can tell that it’s stock cable is pretty okay..A very very rare sight considering the trend at chi-fi.

BGVP DH5 Review Conclusions

The budget oriented brand BGVP’s newest model had passed my evaluation with 65/100 unamped 78/100 amped. I recommend this for anyone who is looking for dark and airy sounding iem with no cable rolling needs.
